Mahdi M. Gulaid, Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, paid a courtesy call on the immediate former Prime Minister in Garowe.
The Deputy Prime Minister visited Hassan Ali Khaire, his immediate former boss, in Puntland’s administrative capital on January 1.
The two leaders met on Friday after attending the fourth annual conference of the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS) in Garowe.
Gulaid and Khaire were meeting for the first time since the latter was ousted as the Prime Minister by the House of Representatives (Lower House).
Mohamed Hussein Roble took over from Khaire while Gulaid remained in his position as the Deputy Prime Minister.
Since then, Khaire has added his name to the list of candidates vying to take over from Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo as the new President of Somalia.
