Unidentified gunmen attacked a vehicle that was carrying Luuq District Commissioner and the Luuq Police Chief.
According to local sources, the gunmen attacked a car that was transporting Ahmed Bule and Abdullahi Hussein, the District Commissioner and Police Chief respectively.
The two regional officers were on their way towards Dolow District when gunmen accosted them on January 10.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the incident caused several casualties.
Nevertheless, the number of people killed or injured in the deadly incident remains unclear.
It is believed that both Bule and Hussein were accosted by members of the Al-Shabaab militia. The extremist group has a significant population of Al-Shabaab fighters.
