Hancock Takes over as the New Head of the British Office in Hargeisa

On Tuesday, Louise Hancock officially assumed her responsibilities as the new Head of the British Office in Hargeisa, succeeding Ilyas Malek.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Hancock remarked on the beauty of Somaliland and her eagerness to continue fostering the longstanding partnership between the UK and Somaliland.

The British Office in Hargeisa serves as the UK’s diplomatic presence in Somaliland, reflecting the UK’s commitment to supporting development and humanitarian efforts in the region.

While the UK does not formally recognize Somaliland’s independence, it maintains active engagement through this office.

Hancock’s appointment underscores the UK’s ongoing dedication to its relationship with Somaliland, building upon the efforts of her predecessors to strengthen ties and support mutual interests.
