Hand Grenade Thrown at Baidoa Police Security Checkpoint

An unidentified person threw a hand grenade at police manning a security checkpoint in Baidoa on December 2.

The incident took place on Wednesday night.

Currently, there are no clear reports on the casualties involved in the incident.

Nevertheless, witnesses reported seeing several people injured at the site of the explosion but could not confirm if they saw any police officer wounded.

Baidoa is the administrative capital of Somalia’s semiautonomous Southwest State.

Southwest State has suffered a surge in similar attacks in recent times forcing the government to act by deploying officers to the area.
