The unending row between the Lower House and Upper House is about to end after the leadership of both houses held joint meetings with Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States.
Sources with details on the meeting confirmed that Speaker Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdurahman of the House of Representatives and Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi of the Senate attended a meeting with President Mohamed Farmaajo and other regional leaders.
During the closed-door meeting, the leaders agreed to end the hostility between them.
The meeting and subsequent burial of the hatchet between both houses comes when they are expected to hold a joint session on Saturday to debate and approve the elections agreement that was recently signed in Mogadishu.
Differences between both houses came to the fore in August 2020 when Speaker Hashi protested the move by the House of Representatives to strip Senators of their oversight role in the management of public finance.
