Former Al-Shabaab leader Abdi Mohamed Araye has surrendered to the Somali National Army (SNA) in Bulo-Marer, located in the Lower Shabelle region.
Araye, who has been a member of Al-Shabaab for 14 years, was responsible for managing the group’s extortion ring.
The Al-Shabaab leader surrendered to government troops who were undertaking a military operation in Bulo-Marer on Wednesday.
