The Somali National Blood Bank is now fully operational.
The country’s Minister of Health declared the national blood bank fully operational in a ceremony held in Mogadishu on Monday.
Health minister Dr. Ali Hajiadam Abubakar was the chief guest at the ceremony held to operationalise the facility.
He was the first one to donate blood at the facility too.
This marks a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare system. This facility is crucial for ensuring a stable and safe blood supply, which is essential for medical treatments, emergencies, and surgeries across Somalia.
The fully functional blood bank will enhance the country’s ability to respond to health crises.
It will improve overall public health outcomes by providing timely and life-saving blood transfusions to those in need too.
