The Minister of Health became the first person in Somalia to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, the health minister, received the first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine on March 16.
She was vaccinated at De Martini Hospital in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
Somalia received 300,000 doses of the vaccine on Monday this week.
The Horn of Africa nation marked one-year anniversary since it reported the first COVID-19 case in March 2020.
The vaccination exercise kicked off at De Martini Hospital, which is the only facility in the country equipped to treat patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
