Hearing Screening Reference Center Opens in Mogadishu Hospital

The Hearing Screening Reference Center has been officially opened at a hospital in Mogadishu.

Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, the country’s Minister of Health, opened the center on December 14.

She was in the company of Mehmet Yilmaz, the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia.

The center will be at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, which is based in the national capital.

According to Dr. Nur, the center will mostly cater to the needs of newborns and children who need to improve their hearing.

Dr. Nur announced that the center would rely on Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry to treat its patients.
