Heatwave in Ethiopia’s Somali Region Kills Over 350 Chicken

Poultry farmers in the Somali Region of Ethiopia are counting huge losses after high temperatures caused the death of over 350 chicken.

An extreme heatwave in Godey town on Tuesday led to the deaths of the chicken.

Local farmers say that the region has experienced significant effects of climate change over the last couple of years.

They added that the lack of cooling systems and climate control worsened the situation.

However, experts now urge poultry farmers to raise and house their birds in open and airy surroundings.
