Heavy clashes have been reported in the Lower Shabelle region.
The clashes were between Somali National Army (SNA) and Al-Shabaab militants.
Sources revealed to the media that SNA forces backed by African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops fought with Al-Shabaab terrorists on Monday morning.
The heavy fight was in Qoryoley.
Al-Shabaab militants had attacked a base comprising soldiers from the Somali government and their ATMIS colleagues from Uganda.
Ugandan troops responded to the provocation with heavy mortar shells.
Thus far, official casualties remain unknown.
However, unconfirmed reports show that government forces might have inflicted heavy casualties on the militants.
