Reports from Mudug indicate that heavy fighting has broken out in the region between Somali National Army (SNA) and Al-Shabaab fighters.
The fighting kicked off on Wednesday.
Specifically, the fighting was reported in Shabeelow and Gaaday, two of the villages in central Mudug earlier today.
Recently, government troops intensified counterterrorism operations in central Somalia.
Nevertheless, Al-Shabaab militants remain in control in most rural places in central Somalia. The militants keep conducting ambushes while planting improvised explosive devices everywhere.
