Heavy gunfight has been reported in Doonka pitting Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) soldiers and Al-Shabaab militants.
The two sides were engaged in intense gunfight in the region between Afgoye and Wanlaweyn.
Residents reported hearing loud gunshots as the two sides fought intensely on February 2.
Apparently, the fighting started when government troops encountered the militants while on their Tuesday patrol in the region.
At the time, the militants were planning to attack trucks transporting charcoal in Doonka.
Multiple casualties have been reported although the exact number of fatalities and the injured are yet to be reported.
