The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and its partners are actively assessing the impact of recent flooding in Beledweyne, Hiiraan region.
The flooding, caused by heavy rains in the Shabelle River catchment area, has affected 10 villages and destroyed significant hectares of crops.
These floods are a recurring challenge in the region, exacerbating food insecurity and displacing vulnerable communities.
Efforts are now focused on evaluating the immediate needs, including emergency shelter, food assistance, and health services, to support the affected population.
The destruction of crops also raises concerns about the longer-term implications for livelihoods and food security in the region.
