Farmers in the regional state of HirShabelle are assured of assistance from the World Food Programme (WFP).
Officials from the global organization, which has an office in Somalia, announced that they would offer support not only to farmers but also to displaced persons in the region.
Laura Tuner, the WFP County Director for Somalia, offered this assurance on Tuesday during her meeting with HirShabelle’s President Ali Hussein Gudlawe.
Tuner added that WFP is ready to support measures by the local administration to mitigate the effects of climate change and flood control around River Shabelle.
