President Mohamed Abdi Ware of HirShabelle has announced the number of polling stations to be used during the upcoming elections in the region.
HirShabelle is scheduled to hold local polls together with the rest of the country in December 2020.
According to President Ware, Jowhar has 13 seats, which politicians are free to vie for in the polls. On its part, Beledweyne has 25 seats.
President Ware made this announcement on Friday, October 2.
Last month, a meeting between Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States agreed to hold local and parliamentary elections in December 2020.
Currently, political leaders and parties in the country are in the process of forming electoral bodies at the regional level to take charge of the polls.
The agreement signed last month declared that National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) would not be taking charge of the upcoming polls.
