President Mohamed Abdi Ware of Somalia’s autonomous region of HirShabelle held a Webex meeting with several foreign diplomats.
The meeting, which took place on Thursday, August 5, saw several top diplomats take part in the discussions with President Ware.
Ambassadors from the UN in Somalia, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States all took part in the virtual meeting.
For the most part, their discussions revolved around the need for building upon the agreements reached and signed in the first round of the Dhusamareb talks last month.
Additionally, Ware and the diplomats spoke about the need for holding timely, practical, and consensus-driven polls in the country.
All the leaders present at the meeting agreed that Somalia must conduct a credible pre-elections process that encourages maximum participation.
