HirShabelle Security Chiefs in Talks to Reopen Roads

Ali Adle, the Minister of Interior in HirShabelle met with military and AMISOM officials, and traditional elders about the need to reopen local roads, which Al-Shabaab had closed.

Their discussions centered on security. They also talked about the urge to reopen closed roads now that areas previously under Al-Shabaab’s controls had been liberated.

Security forces, with the assistance of AMISOM, are taking more territories from the hands of one of the region’s most notorious militia groups.

Despite the roadblocks, the Interior Minister said Bulo Burde remains one of the safest and securest districts in Hiiran.

Abdullahi Ali Nur, the soldier commanding the 5 Battalion in the 41st Division of Section 27 said, “We will clear Al Shabaab from the region. Our focus is on the Bulo Burde in Hiiran region.”

However, Nur says the government will equip militias who support its troops. A team leader from the group will also be elected to provide daily reports.
