Hormuud Telecom donated $20,000 to the national Somali U17 football team.
The Somali U17 side created history last year when they became the first team from the country to win a regiona tournament and qualify for the continental championships.
They received the monetary reward from Hormuud, Somalia’s largest provider of telecommunications services, on Wednesday.
The U17 side will represent Somalia in the continental championships that kick off in Algeria later this month.
They will use the finances to prepare for the upcoming tournament.
