MOMBASA, Kenya – Hormuud Telecom, Somalia’s leading telecommunications powerhouse, has been named Telecommunications Company of the Year at the AfriSAFE Africa Safety Congress 2025, a premier event spotlighting health, safety, and environmental excellence across the continent.
The two-day congress, held from November 13–14 in Mombasa under the theme “United for a Safer Africa,” brought together industry leaders, innovators, and safety advocates from across Africa to share ideas on advancing technology while keeping communities and workplaces safe.
Since its founding in 2002, Hormuud Telecom has grown into Somalia’s largest telecom provider, delivering nationwide mobile coverage, enterprise internet services, and the popular EVC Plus mobile money platform, which has transformed digital financial access across the country.
