Hormuud Telecom to Increase 4G Coverage All Over Somalia by 2023

Hormuud Telecom has announced plans to increase its 4G coverage all over the country at least by 2023.

The company, which is the biggest internet service provider and telecoms operator in Somalia, made this announcement through Ahmed Mohamud Yuusuf, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

While making the announcement, Yuusuf said, “It gives us great pleasure to inform the country of our plans to ensure that all Somali citizens have access to 4G coverage.”

Yuusuf said that the services would be available throughout the East African nation over the next two years.

The Hormuud CEO said that 70 percent of the population already has access to 4G services.

This translates to about 11.25 million Somalis in various parts of the country.

Yuusuf said that roughly 30 percent of the rural population is yet to access these services. He announced that the company targets this segment.
