Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia observed International Human Rights Day on Wednesday with a national ceremony initiated by Deputy Prime Minister Jabriil Abdirashid Haji in the capital city.
Organized by the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development, the event showcased significant advancements in human rights within the nation.
Notable achievements highlighted this year comprised the re-establishment of national human rights obligations following nearly three decades, the implementation of crucial human rights laws, and the formation of the Independent National Human Rights Commission.
This year’s celebration also signified the 77th anniversary of the worldwide recognition of Human Rights Day established in 1948.
Somalia stands among 199 countries participating in the observance, demonstrating its dedication to promoting and safeguarding human rights throughout the nation.
