Somalia and other Horn of Africa nations should expect heavy rains from El Nino within the next month, the Climate Protection and Applications Center (CPAC) has warned.
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development CPAC (ICPAC) issued the warning on Wednesday.
ICPAC, which is based in Nairobi, said that El Nino is likely to hit the region between October and December.
The organization provides climate services to 11 countries in East Africa.
Guleid Artan, the ICPAC Director, said that the region is already experiencing El Nino conditions. These would then give way to wetter conditions in the last three months of the year.
