ICRC Condemns Attack on SRCS Clinic in Gedo Region

A clinic belonging to the Somalia Red Crescent Society (SRCS) in Gedo Region came under heavy attack on August 30.

International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) condemned that attack.

The clinic, which is in a Jubaland town known as Bardere, plays an important role in the facilitation of humanitarian activities in the region.

It’s not yet clear who organized the attack.

The management of SRCS has also added its voice in condemning the attack.

The two organizations issued a joint statement on this matter.

In their statement, they said that three of their personnel had suffered various types of injuries for which they are currently receiving medical attention.

Ahmed Mohamed Adale, the Director of SRCS, said that the premises had suffered extensive damages.

Juerg Eglin, the ICRC Country Director for Somalia, said that the attack had inconvenienced about 2,000 people who used to receive medical attention at the clinic.
