The camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ladan is now home to 28,470.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said that the figure is quite a substantial increase from two years ago.
Compared to 2021, the current population of the Ladan IDP camp has increased by as much as 10 percent.
According to IOM, the increase is because of several factors.
However, the organization adds that the primary factor that contributed to the increase is the severe drought that has gripped Somalia.
Secondly, the ongoing conflict in the surrounding areas has forced many other residents to seek safety and accommodation at the IDP camp.
