Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Gedo will be receiving food supplies from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
A plane carrying the food supplies from the Somali government has already landed at the El-Wak Airstrip in Gedo.
The plane arrived in the region on Wednesday, June 29.
Khadijo Diriye, the federal Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, was also on the plane to ensure that the food supplies reach the intended families.
Gedo is one of the worst-hit areas in Somalia by the ongoing drought.
