An IED blast in Mogadishu has injured several civilians although it seemed to have targeted a military convoy.
The landmine explosion targeted Somali National Army (SNA) troops.
According to witnesses, the IED blast was aimed at an army motorcade that was transporting security forces in Karan District, Banadir.
Police reports have indicated that four civilians were injured during the explosion and are now in hospital receiving treatment.
Reports show that rubbles from the powerful explosion smashed into four passersby, who were then rushed to a nearby city hospital.
Witness statements indicate that the army, whose car narrowly evaded the explosion, would have suffered heavy losses.
As at the time of going to press, no group or person has claimed responsibility for this latest IED attack in Mogadishu.
