IED Explosion Kills Three People After Destroying Their Ambulance

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded and killed three people in Garissa after destroying the ambulance they were traveling in.

The incident took place on Sunday along the Sangailu-Hulugho Road in Garissa County.

The driver of the ambulance and a woman who was critically are among the dead. At the time of the incident, the ambulance was taking the woman to Garissa Provincial Hospital.

Following investigations, reports from security sources indicate that Al-Shabaab was responsible for planting the IED, which detonated when the ambulance ran over it.

Once the explosive went off, the terrorists followed it up with a deadly gun attack.

Thereafter, they fled from the scene, according to Nicodemus Ndalana, the Northeastern Regional Commissioner.
