IGAD Appeals to Member Countries to Support Uganda’s Efforts to Curb Spread of Ebola

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has appealed to its member countries to support the efforts by Uganda to curb the spread of Ebola.

Last week, Uganda recorded its first case of Ebola.

As of September 25, the country has recorded 36 cases with 18 confirmed and the remaining 18 being probable cases.

Most of the cases are in Mubende, Kyegegwa, and Kassanda.

Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, the Executive Secretary of IGAD, appealed to neighboring countries to support the efforts of the Ugandan government urgently.

He said that the neighboring countries would never be safe if Ebola gets out of hand in Uganda.
