Mogadishu, Somalia – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack that struck Mogadishu on Saturday, voicing unwavering solidarity with the people and government of Somalia.
In a statement released through its official channels, the IGAD Secretariat described the incident as a “heinous act of violence” targeting innocent civilians and undermining regional peace and stability. The bloc reiterated its support for Somalia’s ongoing fight against extremism and commended the resilience of the Somali population in the face of continued threats.
IGAD also extended its condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to the injured. The organization emphasized that such acts of terror will not deter the collective efforts of regional states to combat violent extremism.
The attack, which drew widespread international condemnation, comes at a time when Somalia is intensifying security operations with the backing of regional allies. IGAD affirmed its readiness to continue cooperating with Somalia in strengthening security coordination, intelligence sharing, and counterterrorism initiatives across the Horn of Africa.
