The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has launched the first Center of Excellence for Climate Adaptation and Environmental Protection (CAEP) in Somalia.
The center will be based in Mogadishu.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of Somalia launched the center in the company of Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, IGAD’s Executive Secretary.
While launching the center, President Farmaajo reiterated his government’s commitment to tackling climate crisis.
Ambassador Gamal Hassan, Somalia’s Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, had initiated the idea for the construction of the center.
