IGAD to Hold Summit on December 20 over Somalia-Kenya Dispute

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) confirmed that it would a summit on December 20 to discuss the dispute between Somalia and Kenya.

IGAD confirmed this news on Sunday, December 13 after receiving a letter of protest from Somalia over Kenya.

Somalia’s relations with Kenya have deteriorated over the last few weeks.

In the last couple of years, the two nations have not enjoyed stellar diplomatic or bilateral relations.

Somalia has complained numerously of Kenya’s interference in its “internal affairs.”

Kenya has repeatedly denied these accusations.

On Sunday, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted a letter to IGAD informing the regional body of its complaints against Kenya.

The letter was addressed to His Excellency Ahmed Hamdok, the Prime Minister of Sudan who doubles as the Chairperson of IGAD.

IGAD is to hold the summit in Djibouti.
