IMF Grants Somalia Right to Access External Financing

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has granted Somalia the freedom to access external funding for investments in key areas of the economy.

On Sunday, IMF said that the debt relief status Somalia now enjoys allows it to seek external funding for investments in education and job creation.

Earlier this month, IMF and the World Bank both forgave Somalia debts worth $4.5 billion.

IMF confirms that the move means that Somalia is free from over 90 percent of the debts it owed the international community.
