Mogadishu – Influential religious leader Sheikh Cali Wajiis has harshly criticized the ambassadors of the United Kingdom and the United States, accusing them of behaving more like clan elders than official diplomatic representatives.
“They represent governments, not tribes,” Sheikh Wajiis said, condemning what he described as a meddling approach to Somalia’s internal affairs.
His remarks come in the wake of a formal move by both governments to dissolve the C6+ international coordination framework, a platform that has long facilitated engagement between Somalia and key international partners.
The Sheikh’s comments underscore growing tensions between Somali leaders and segments of the international community amid ongoing disputes over sovereignty, legitimacy, and political influence.
