Information Minister Warns Somali Politicians against Public Incitement

Osman Abukar Dubbe, Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism has warned politicians in the country against public incitement.

Dubbe was speaking on December 24 during an event held to launch a campaign for peaceful elections in the East African nation.

The information minister said that politicians have an important role to play to ensure that the country remains peaceful while preparing for elections.

Furthermore, he made a similar request towards journalists and the media as a whole.

In his statement, Dubbe urged media practitioners to avoid spreading hate speech while covering elections-related news.

Dubbe stated that the media is capable of maintaining professionalism during elections coverage too.
