Injuries Reported in a Beletweyne Grenade Attack

Several were reportedly injured in a grenade attack carried out in Beletweyne, Hiiran on September 7.

Local sources confirmed that unknown gunmen hurled a grenade at officers manning a security checkpoint in the town.

According to local residents, the unknown gunmen who hurled the grenade took off immediately thereafter.

Hiiran security forces then launched a massive manhunt for the gunmen.

Nevertheless, there’s yet to be any comment by the local authorities on the incident.

The incident took place a few days after another one that targeted three state Members of Parliament (MPs).

Beletweyne is one of the areas set to hold elections for regional Upper House seats.
