Intelligence Officer Killed by a Female Suicide Bomber in Mogadishu

Reports from Somalia indicate that a female suicide bomber in Mogadishu killed an intelligence officer on October 1.

A police officer, who opted to remain anonymous, confirmed that the incident took place in the nation’s capital early on Thursday.

According to the police officer, the woman detonated the bomb that was strapped to her waist at the junction of Black Sea.

Apparently, she targeted plain-clothed intelligence agents from National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

An undercover unit commander died on the spot from the powerful blast.

Ambulances rushed to the scene to rescue those who were injured in the blast.

Eyewitnesses told the press that all the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Al-Shabaab has already claimed responsibility for the attack.

The identity of the dead intelligence officer has not been released though unconfirmed reports indicate that he was the head of intelligence at Howlwadag District.
