Mogadishu, Somalia – The federal Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, convened a critical consultative meeting on Friday morning with traditional elders and community leaders from SSC-Khaatumo.
The high-level discussions took place as part of ongoing efforts by the federal government of Somalia to support inclusive reconciliation, ensure peace, and promote unity across the regions. The meeting aimed to strengthen engagement between the federal government and the SSC-Khaatumo leadership, particularly in the context of recent developments and efforts to stabilize the area.
Hosh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the local population and emphasized the importance of dialogue, collaboration, and traditional leadership in fostering long-term stability and federal cohesion.
“The role of elders and community leaders is indispensable in our reconciliation journey. We are here to listen, to consult, and to build solutions together for a peaceful and united Somalia,” said Hosh during the session.
The traditional elders expressed their appreciation for the federal government’s willingness to engage and reiterated their support for unity and peace under the Somali federal framework. They also raised local governance, security, and development concerns, calling for a stronger federal presence and improved service delivery in SSC-Khaatumo.
This meeting marks a continuation of the government’s broader reconciliation agenda, aligning with its constitutional mandate to promote dialogue among communities and resolve local conflicts through inclusive and Somali-led processes.
Officials from the ministry and respected elders concluded the meeting with a mutual agreement to continue dialogue and cooperation in the coming weeks. Further consultations and follow-up meetings are expected to ensure that voices from the region are fully integrated into the national reconciliation and state-building process.
