MOGADISHU — The Director General of Somalia’s Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation (MoIFAR), Abdulkadir Ali, presided over a high-level coordination meeting in the capital aimed at strengthening the nation’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) services.
Modernizing Civil Registration
The strategic gathering included the Director General of the Civil Registration Services Directorate, Abdukhani Mohamed, alongside senior officials from the Benadir Regional Administration (BRA). Together, the leadership thoroughly assessed recent advancements in modernizing and digitizing Somalia’s civil registration networks.
A reliable CRVS system—which accurately records essential life events such as births, deaths, marriages, and divorces—is widely considered the foundational backbone for effective governance and equitable resource distribution.
Broadening Accessibility and Public Service
During the session, officials explored various innovative approaches to broaden and improve service accessibility for Somali citizens, ensuring that even marginalized or remote populations are systematically included in the national registry.
The collaborative meeting strongly reinforced the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to promoting efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused public service delivery across all levels of the federal and regional government.
