International Community Warns of Deadly Attacks in Somalia’s Galmudug Region

The international community has expressed alarm over the deadly conflict in Somalia’s Galmudug region.

Deadly fighting broke out in Guri-El town on October 25.

So far, the clashes have left more than 120 dead. According to certain sources, 600 people suffered injuries.

Representatives of Somalia’s international partners issued a statement on the conflict.

In their statement, they called for an end to the conflicts, which they blame for causing severe suffering.

Moreover, the partners claim that the clashes distract the government from urgent priorities such as preparing for elections and countering Al-Shabaab.

The partners urged the conflicting parties to cease fighting immediately and embrace negotiations as a solution for their differences.
