An international non-governmental organization (NGO) has commended Somalia for approving the Children’s Rights Act.
Save the Children commended the decision by the Somali government to approve the Act.
It added that the decision by the Council of Ministers adheres to the dictates of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
Somalia ratified UNCRC in 2015.
Mohamud Mohamed Hassan, the Save the Children Country Director for Somalia, welcomed the approval of the Act.
He added that the organization has worked with the Somali government for years to develop the bill.
