Several representatives of Somalia’s international partners advised President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble to embrace dialogue.
Farmaajo and Roble have been at loggerheads for several weeks now.
Their differences played out in the public following the recent murder of a young female officer with the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
Roble responded to the young spy’s murder by sacking Fahad Yasin, the then NISA Director.
Farmaajo called Yasin’s sacking “unconstitutional and illegal.”
Since then, Farmaajo has made several attempts to take over preparations for elections and security responsibilities.
On his part, Roble believes that he remains responsible for those responsibilities.
On Saturday, October 2, international partners recommended dialogue as the only solution to the Roble-Farmaajo differences.
They recognized the efforts the two leaders continue to make to find mediation for their issues.
Nevertheless, the international partners expressed concern over the inability to resolve the core issues that make Roble and Farmaajo unable to work together amicably.
