Internet services are back up in Somalia after two days of complete unexplained shutdown.
Hormuud Telecom, Somalia’s biggest Internet Service Provider, blamed the shutdown on windy conditions that interfered with the submarine cable along the Indian Ocean.
However, other sources indicated that the weather conditions were fine and incapable of messing with the country’s Internet services.
The problem started on Saturday immediately after the House of Representatives passed a no confidence motion against Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.
Multiple sources believe the government had shut down the Internet in fear of the reaction of Somalis to Prime Minister Khaire’s ouster.
However, reports now indicate that the services have resumed in all parts of Somalia without any further explanation.
