IOM Constructs 510 Latrines in a Southwest Somalia Town

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has completed the construction of 510 latrines in a town in southwest Somalia.

IOM constructed the latrines in Barwaqo, which is in Gedo Region.

The latrines would help the local community to maintain high standards of hygiene while boosting the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

IOM ensured that the latrines were well spread in various parts of the town to serve as many people as possible.

Lately, Barwaqo has been beset by waterborne diseases, especially cholera.

It is also home to a sizeable number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who would benefit from the accessible latrines too.
