The International Organization for Migration (IOM) helped 17 immigrant children to travel back home to Ethiopia.
Five immigrant women from Ethiopian also traveled with the children back home.
IOM made it possible for the 22 immigrants to return home on October 29.
The immigrants had been based in Bossaso in Somalia for several months after they were stranded in Somalia because of COVID-19 restrictions.
IOM worked closely with EU-IOM Joint Initiative for Migrant Protection and Reintegration in the Horn of African to make this possible.
While in Somalia, the immigrants had lived in various safehouses supported by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Bossaso, a coastal town, is quite popular with immigrants who use it as a key transit point while traveling to or from the Gulf states.
