The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been conducting a series of activities in Bossaso to raise awareness of COVID-19.
IOM has organized the activities as part of the EU-IOM Joint Initiative Programme.
Through it, the organization hopes to make stranded migrants and the surrounding local communities in Bossaso aware of the measures to take to curb the spread of the disease.
COVID-19 has wrecked lives, businesses, and livelihoods around the world.
Furthermore, the virulent disease has also destroyed the global economy. The ban on international traveling has left millions of people stranded in various countries too.
Somalia’s town of Bossaso has its share of stranded migrants.
IOM’s awareness activities are designed to reach out to these communities by educating them on the hygiene practices to take to prevent the deadly disease from spreading further.
