An article appearing on Friday’s edition of the Foreign Policy shows that Iran has been colluding with Al-Shabaab to smuggle deadly weapons into Houthis.
The article goes further to allege that Iran has established strong relations with the Somali-based Al-Qaeda linked group.
According to the article, the purpose of smuggling weapons is to help carry out multiple attacks against the United States troops in the country.
Iran’s attacks are not limited to the US alone. Instead, Tehran seems intent on attacking other foreign forces in and outside the country too.
Houthis have been in war with the US, Israel, and other Gulf States with a presence in Yemen.
Iran seems displeased with the influence of the US and other Gulf States in Yemen hence its continued support to Houthis.
Iran’s relations with Al-Shabaab are not limited to supplying weapons to Houthis alone.
The country is also working closely with the Somali-based militia to smuggle weapons to several African countries such as Central African Republic, Mozambique, South Sudan, and Kenya.
