Mogadishu, Somalia – The Deputy Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, General Madey Nurey Sheikh, officially welcomed General Luciano Portolano, Chief of the Defence Staff of Italy, upon his arrival at Mogadishu’s Adan Abdulle International Airport.
General Portolano is leading a high-level Italian military delegation to Somalia. During their visit, the Italian officials are expected to hold key meetings with their Somali counterparts aimed at deepening military and security cooperation between the two nations.
This visit underscores Italy’s ongoing support for Somalia’s defense sector, including training, capacity building, and operational partnerships in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
