Italy Signs Water Development Agreement with Somalia

The Italian government has signed a water development agreement with the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

Italy and Somalia signed the agreement on January 20 in Mogadishu.

Representatives from Italy Embassy in Somalia signed the agreement on behalf of the European nation.

Somalia was represented by representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources in Wednesday’s signing ceremony.

In the agreement, Italy would fund the Development of the Water Master Plan for regions around Beletweyne.

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is cooperating with Somalia and Italy in the project.

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation has also committed itself to make the project successful.

According to a communiqué from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the entire project would cost €1 million to fund.
