Ambassador Pier Mario Daccò Coppi of Italy in Somalia has reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to supporting the African Union-led security transition in Somalia.
In an interview with local media, Ambassador Coppi highlighted Italy’s dedication to collaborating with European Union (EU) states to enhance the effectiveness of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and its successor, the AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The Ambassador emphasized Italy’s role in ensuring a smooth transition from ATMIS to AUSSOM, which is critical for strengthening Somalia’s security framework.
This transition is part of broader international efforts to stabilize Somalia and support its government in taking full responsibility for national security.
Italy’s involvement underscores its long-standing commitment to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, as well as its active participation in multilateral initiatives under the EU and African Union frameworks.
Italy’s support aligns with the broader international community’s goal of fostering a secure and stable Somalia, capable of addressing internal challenges and contributing to regional security.
